Hello.
My message below is quite long in effort to be crystal clear. I really need help please.
For the first time on the 7th of February, I restored from a Hostinger automatic backup. Since then, I have experienced problems I have never seen in WordPress of which Hostinger has left it to me to fix. Although I built the website myself, I am not a developer.
Problems experienced since the restore:
- Renaming tags: rename tag “hello” to helloX” > Save > says its saved >refresh page, it’s back to “hello”. I flush the cache both on WP side and Hostinger side (“everything”). No change. Then 9 minutes later it appears as “helloX” on my website (front end and dashboard). The first time this happened I managed to take this screenshot that shows errors.
- Renaming menu items: The same as tags, but for Menu items — this screenshot explains the tag and menu problem visually.
- Updating plugins: When I attempt to update the Hostinger plugin, it says its updated, I refresh the page and it tells me the plugin needs to get updated. Unlike 1 and 2 above, this does not “self-resolve after 9 minutes” — this screenshot shows the plugin problem
- Site Health: All clear, just WP update 6.7.2 pending.
Hostinger has given me all sorts of unhelpful or conflicting instructions, like:
- From “hire a developer”
- To “I don’t recommend restoring anything yet”
- And now to “could you please try to restore the website from an older date than the 7th of February”… (which effectively means I will lose 4 days of Work)
🐦 My Ask for Help / Question:
Besides this forum I am on my own, I do not have a budget for a developer so I need to try what I can. When I ask Claude.ai the advice I am given is to do a backup and run: https://ailearnlog.com/wp-admin/maint/repair.php. Is this a good idea — there something else I should try?
