In general, WooCommerce Subscriptions require the payment gateways to handle recurring billing – this depends on whether you are using PayPal Subscriptions mode or PayPal Vaulting mode. To use PayPal Vaulting, you need to be enabled for Reference Transactions before you can use it. (The screenshot you provided was not clear).
We will first wait for your system status report. If you are not comfortable sharing these details in a public forum, you may open a ticket with directly with us via Request Support. Please make sure to include the URL of this thread in your ticket for reference.

Hi Jamie
Thank you very much for quick reply. here is my system report https://privatebin.syde.com/?2eed2e7af4a7c527#Ep8qNCbZngPierHbHnGHwD7J93zpCPTfUfUq9zgPcQjS
Thanks
Hi @idealwebdesignlk ,
Thank you for the system status report.
Your current subscription mode is set to PayPal Subscriptions, so you first need to connect the product to PayPal Subscription plan.
Here is how to do it:
- Create a new product or edit an existing one.
- Make sure the product type is set to Simple Subscription or Variable Subscription.
- The subscription must have a price and a configured billing cycle. The billing cycle cannot be changed after connecting the product to PayPal.
- Ensure the
Connect to PayPalcheckbox is selected and aPlan Nameis specified.
The last step is crucial to ensure that the Product is connected to a PayPal Plan, to enable recurring billing for the product.
We also noticed that you were enabled for Reference Transactions, which means you may use PayPal Vaulting; PayPal accounts are saved in the secure Vault after a payment is attempted.
Please give the above steps a try, the PayPal button should be present once you connect it to a plan. Alternatively, if you have questions on how to switch to PayPal Vaulting, we’d be happy to assist. Look forward to your response.
Best Regards,
Jamie

Hi There
Thank you for the reply about the matter. so I checked my product which is under subscription, and it look like this, I didnt find anything to connect with PayPal here. also I use stripe as well, stripe works well with this setup.
Please advice.
Thanks
Hi @idealwebdesignlk ,
Thank you for sharing the screenshot. As we have mentioned before, you were enabled for Reference Transaction , which allows you to use the PayPal Vaulting as your subscription mode. This option provides a seamless and flexible subscription experience by securely storing customers’ payment details, allowing merchants to manage recurring payments directly within WooCommerce.
It is important to note that existing customers who signed up using PayPal Subscriptions will continue to be billed and managed through PayPal’s native subscription system as usual. Switching to PayPal Vaulting only affects new subscriptions going forward and does not disrupt or modify any current active subscriptions already handled by PayPal.
Let us know if you have any concerns on making the switch.
Best Regards,
Jamie
