7.0 Documentation

View the 7.0 Documentation Project board in Github

@estelaris created a Github issue for Resources for 7.0

Changes to existing documents will be drafted in Gitlab issues. For new features, we can create new pages ahead of time if we leave them in draft.

New blocks in 7.0 that will need new documentation pages:

  • Breadcrumbs block Block is the abstract term used to describe units of markup that, composed together, form the content or layout of a webpage using the WordPress editor. The idea combines concepts of what in the past may have achieved with shortcodes, custom HTML, and embed discovery into a single consistent API and user experience.
  • Icon block

@aialvi will be working on adding updates to issues identified in Github GitHub is a website that offers online implementation of git repositories that can easily be shared, copied and modified by other developers. Public repositories are free to host, private repositories require a paid subscription. GitHub introduced the concept of the ‘pull request’ where code changes done in branches by contributors can be reviewed and discussed before being merged by the repository owner. https://github.com/

Blocks articles overhaul project

@estelaris added additional blocks to the Backlog for documentation changes and to close old issues in the Documentation Issue Tracker.

Contributors can continue to work on the cleanup tasks while we are waiting for 7.0 to be released.

@awetz583 will continue updating existing blocks including the Cover block.

It would be nice to have a full list of which blocks exist in the block editor. We have access to the block code in GitHub but not all of the blocks are currently active and not all are user-facing.

@estelaris continues work on the Block overhaul triage Spreadsheet

Documentation in some of the sections in the spreadsheet such as WP Overview @estelaris and @milana_cap will update due to access and background in the project. @estelaris has access to edit the tooltips for keywords that are driven by the glossaries.

Dev Hub Issues

The documentation team needs Help closing DevHub issues. Please close anything related to missing documentation that was created when the parser was run.

How to get documentation badges?

@estelaris will look into the new process and ensure those who helped at WordCamp WordCamps are casual, locally-organized conferences covering everything related to WordPress. They’re one of the places where the WordPress community comes together to teach one another what they’ve learned throughout the year and share the joy. Learn more. Asia will receive WordPress.org documentation profile badges.
