This issue usually occurs when the registration is processed successfully in the background, but instead of showing the success message or redirect page, the raw JSON response is displayed.

In most cases, this is caused by a conflict with the active theme, cache/optimization plugin, security plugin, or custom JavaScript.

Please temporarily deactivate cache, optimization, and security plugins, then test the form again. If the issue is resolved, kindly let us know which plugin or theme caused it so we can investigate further from our end.

We also recommend updating User Registration & Membership, your theme, and WordPress to the latest version.

The issue you mentioned usually caused by a conflict or caching.

If you have already tested for conflicts with other third-party plugins, could you please share the list of active plugins with us?

Another possible factor could be caching. However, it looks like there is no cache plugin installed on the site. Could you please check whether server-side caching is enabled?

If server caching is enabled, kindly disable it temporarily and try the registration process again.

The JSON error has been resolved, although I’m not sure what caused the change. However, now when users attempt to sign up, they receive an alert stating that their email or username already exists. This message prompts them to retry the sign-up process, even though their registration has already been recorded and a new user has been added to the admin dashboard.

The “email or username already exists” error is most likely caused by a plugin conflict or caching issue. Please try the following steps:

  1. Temporarily deactivate WPForms Lite and WPCode Lite, then test the registration again.
  2. If the issue is not resolved, deactivate all other plugins except User Registration and test the registration again.
  3. If the issue is gone, reactivate plugins one by one to identify which one is causing the conflict.
  4. Once done, check with your hosting provider to clear any server-side cache and test again.

Hi @shresthauzwal , I did the first step you recommended and still get the same error of “username/email” already exists.
